Friends of Silverstone Museum corporate memberships launched

20th Mar 2024

Silverstone Museum has launched a new initiative aimed at businesses within the region.

The museum, located trackside at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix, has announced the launch of its new Friends of Silverstone Museum corporate membership opportunity, geared to regional businesses.

By becoming a Friend of Silverstone Museum, businesses will enjoy exclusive benefits for both the organisation and its employees, while also helping the museum to continue inspiring the next generation of
motorsport stars and fans.

Businesses pledging their support for the initiative will gain access to a wide range of benefits for their teams, including free venue hire, free admission for employees and special access to the museum’s year-round programme of exclusive exhibitions and events.

Silverstone Museum CEO, Phil Lawrie, explained how the Friends of Silverstone Museum membership will enable the attraction to continue its vital work within the community and its enhanced educational offering, which every year inspires thousands of children to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.

He said: “Our Friends of Silverstone Museum is an exciting new development which we are delighted to launch to the wider business community in our region. Our supporters are instrumental in helping us tell the story British motor racing and inspire the next generation to add their own chapters to an already incredible history here at Silverstone.

“By joining, businesses will be part of a community that enables thousands of children to experience and participate in our popular education workshops, tailored to children and students of all ages at every level of their education, whether it’s learning about how Formula 1 tyres work, understanding aerodynamics or choosing careers within motorsport.

“Support from corporate members will help us to continue our day-to-day operation, including maintaining and preserving an historic archive of racing memorabilia, growing our extensive, exciting collection of racing cars and motorbikes and providing a world-class experience for over 150,000 visitors each year.”

Depending on an organisation’s tier of support they will be entitled to a wide range of benefits as part of its selected membership, including:

■ Venue Hire – at least one free meeting room hire per year.
■ Exclusive Access – invitations to previews of future exhibitions and special events.
■ Free Admission – an allocation of at least 50 Silverstone Museum entry tickets.
■ Recognition – physical branding in the museum and inclusion on its website.
■ Social Media – at least two social media posts per year highlighting members’ business.
■ Discounts – 20% discount in the museum café and 10% discount in the shop.

With museum visitor numbers for 2024 forecast to exceed 160,000, the attraction continues to experience significant growth, which means the potential audience reach for companies committing to a membership is substantial.

Phil added: “Becoming a Friend of Silverstone Museum gives businesses in the area the chance to engage in the Silverstone success story, becoming part of the museum’s legacy whilst also enjoying significant benefits.”

Pledging support as a Friend of Silverstone Museum entitles corporate members to have their company name featured on the Friends of Silverstone Museum wall at the venue.

The museum has a range of unique event spaces, with an option for exclusive hire, making it a popular option for corporate away days, business events, private dinners and filming with a backdrop of historic iconic racing cars, motorbikes and motorsport memorabilia celebrating the past, present and future of British motor racing.

The launch of the museum’s latest new attraction, its state-of-the-art simulator suite is available for team building events, tournaments and corporate entertainment events, where guests can drive the ultimate racing simulator experience on bespoke rigs, utilised by professional drivers and race teams.

“Our offering at Silverstone Museum is truly unique and immersive,” said Phil. “We invite businesses to become a Friend of Silverstone Museum, experience everything the museum has to offer and join us on our exciting future journey celebrating the very best of British motor racing.”

Due to its location trackside of the world-renowned Silverstone Circuit, alongside its unrivalled connection to the motorsport industry, has led to the museum being selected as an incredible backdrop to many media features since it opened in 2019.

The museum’s unique, extensive exhibition space provides the perfect stage for studio productions, interview panels and many more programme productions including Channel 4, Car SOS, Red Bull Racing, Mission 44 and Sky Sports among those selecting the museum for media broadcasts.

Its headline grabbing, innovative marketing campaigns continue to keep the museum in the media spotlight with numerous leading lights from the world of motorsport making star appearances at the attraction and its recent hugely successful #GirlsWill initiative, featuring Sir Lewis Hamilton, featured on Sky Sports News, BBC News and ITV broadcasts.

The Friend of Silverstone Museum membership packages start at £5,000 per year for the Supporter option or £10,000 for an Associate membership.
