McLaren STEM Ambassadors – Saturday 19th July

Silverstone Museum is proud to announce a brand new event taking place on Saturday 19th July as part of our ongoing #GirlsWill initiative, in collaboration with McLaren Racing - created to inspire young people to explore careers in STEM and motorsport.

The event is free to attend with a museum entry ticket, and promises an exciting learning, career insight, and behind the scenes access to a World Championship winning team.

A key highlight of the day will be a series of three free Q&A sessions (at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm) featuring female STEM ambassadors from McLaren Racing, each with a unique journey into the world of motorsport:

• Annabel – A current intern with McLaren’s Technical team, specialising in race strategy and engineering. Annabel is also studying Engineering at the University of Cambridge and first connected with McLaren through the 60 Scholars Programme.
• Iola – A third-year Machining Apprentice working in McLaren’s machine shop. After completing A Levels in DT, Maths, and Physics, Iola chose an apprenticeship route and is now thriving in a technical career at McLaren Racing.
• Sophie – Now an Aerodynamicist within McLaren Racing’s F1 Technical team, Sophie began her journey at McLaren Automotive. After working in composite and machine design as a design engineer, she retrained through study and on-the-job learning to move into a highly specialised technical role in F1.
   

The sessions will explore a range of topics, from what it’s like to work for a World Championship winning team, to the variety of education and career pathways available in the industry.

Alongside the Q&A, you’ll also get:

• An opportunity to support future #GirlsWill events with on-site donations
   

This event is all about accessibility and inspiration - there’s no additional cost, but a museum entry ticket is required - session places are limited and must be booked in advance.

  You’ll then be prompted to select your free McLaren session (11am, 1pm, or 3pm).
• Don’t forget: you’ll need a session ticket for each person attending, including children.
