Silverstone Heritage Limited, the organisation behind Silverstone Museum values the enrichment that volunteers bring to the visitor experience and help deliver the iconic Silverstone story to everyone.
About Us
Silverstone Heritage Limited is an independent not-for-profit organisation set up to develop, open, and now operate, Silverstone Museum.
Our museum, located trackside at Silverstone Circuit, brings vividly to life the spirit, stories and action of Silverstone’s past, present and future legacy in British motorsport, through a dynamic, interactive and engaging visitor experience. Our visitors also get the opportunity to get up close and personal to some iconic cars, vehicles and items synonymous with Silverstone and British motor racing.
As well as operating our museum, we house and manage a growing Collections & Research Centre, dedicated to preserving an impressive archive of documents are artefacts, protecting them for future generations.
The Role
Being a Volunteer at Silverstone Museum gives you the opportunity to be part of a unique team. We are driven by the pursuit of delivering the iconic Silverstone story to everyone, making the joy of motorsport accessible to local, national, and global audiences.
We empower our volunteers to drive the visitor experience and deliver a personality led experience. Our volunteers are proud to share what our museum has to offer, through this we continue to grow by learning from others, sharing knowledge and experience and bringing out the best from everyone we work with.
We are connected to what we do and are passionate in our delivery and standards ensuring that the visitor journey is new and different every time.
People volunteer for many different reasons, being a voluntary, unremunerated role, our volunteers help us drive excellence in the visitor experience and can include the following activities:
- Archive handling
- Exhibition Tours
- Education group hosts
- Vehicle maintenance
- Storytellers offering key narratives throughout the exhibition highlighting key themes E.g Women in Motorsport.
- Heritage Track Trail tours
- Spotlight sessions for key vehicles (Including interactive elements showcasing specific vehicle parts and their use)
About You
We welcome applications from anyone would feels they could make a valuable contribution to our volunteer team at the museum.
We are looking for volunteers who are available to work between 9:30am and 4pm with full day and half day shifts available, and we will be ideally looking for volunteers to enrich our experience over weekends, which are our busiest times, providing lots of opportunity for interaction with our visitors.
You do not need to have experience of being a volunteer before nor is it necessity for you to work within, or have extensive knowledge of, the motorsport world.
